The new website was developed under the framework of the project called:
"Name and Fame for the First Green Steps"
This new initiative to launch a nationwide registry of ISO 14001 certified
and EMAS registered companies in Romania is coming from the non-governmental
sector. It's goal is to list those small and big companies which have
the best environmental attitude. The Name and Fame for the First Green
Steps project is implemented by the Romanian
Environmental Partnership Foundation, Eco
Business Programme in partnership with KÖVET
INEM Hungary, through an NGO Twinning grant funded by DG Environment.
Project budget: 22.635 Euro, EU contribution: 19.360 Euro
Timing: 15th of January - 15th of December 2005
The importance of such a website can be understood easily when we use
the ISO 14001 Speedometer.
The ISO 14001 Speedometer - A tool to better assess country ranking
in ISO 14001 certifications, used by INEM (www.inem.org)
The number of certifications to the international environmental management
standard ISO 14001 is often used as an indicator of a country's development
in the use of voluntary environmental agreements, and is understood as
a sort of country-level environmental performance indicator.
